General colony lore

  • The main name for the colony is "Port of Yhama", but it can have be any variation with "Yhama" in it.

  • Default scenario is that the colony is settled around a coastal temperate forest area, or an island. This can change depending on the playthrough style.

  • The colony is open to strangers. It will take care of the incapacitated that end up near their colony, and allow travelers to temporarily stay at their settlement. They're also friendly to traders that come their way. They're more of a small settlement with just the five of them, due to their personalities being way too off putting for any normal person to be around for too long.

  • They don't have a specific ideology with set rules to adhere to, so people with different ideologies and practices are welcome. Aslong as you're not disrupting the peace, anything that's not too morally questionable goes.

  • Rimworlds are far removed from different worlds, but I just like to imagine certain spaceship technology is advanced enough to shortern trips to a few days instead of years. This is mostly relevant to the backstory of my pawns.

  • I will deviate from standard Rimworld lore and do my own thing just because I can.

Note: This is just my default scenario without gameplay influence, but sometimes I like to mess around and assign them cannibalism or make them more aligned with the empire, etc. It all depends on what I feel like doing for my current playthrough. They're just my guys I like to set loose and see what happens to them, and take ideas from different playthroughs to mess around with.

Lloyd Daniels

Age: 27 yrs oldPersonality: Carefree, all play no work, calculative and manipulative, smooth talker, spoiledOccupation: Former roaming doctor, currently settlement Leader.Likes: Beaches, sleeping around with others, muffalos, making Bradley do all of his work, dissecting things, biology, experimentingDislikes: Boredom, cooking, sleeping in barracks, diplomatic stuff, not getting his way

A former heir with exceptional medical skills. He was raised in a rich influential family of medical engineers on a Glitterworld. At a rather young age, he started to develop a strange fascination with the biology of the living and medical practices from lesser developed worlds. This automatically made him an outcast in his own family, due to the lack of human suffering Glitterworld society where such practices would be redudant. While living a fairly normal life at a first glance, Lloyd would use his family's influence and money to obtain "volunteers" to test out new machines prototypes. In reality they'd be at the mercy of his own whims. This included all sorts of experimentation, non-cosmetic surgery, and pushing the limits of the living. He would also shirk all of his familial duties to indulge into drugs, alcohol and all sorts of debauchery. Eventually his family caught wind of Lloyd partaking in unsavory practices for his own enjoyment, and given they were also fed up with his terrible behaviour as a whole, he was set to be disposed of to no longer be a stain on his family. However, his father couldn't bear the thought of killing his own son, and put him into cryptosleep instead. His cryptosleep casket was placed in an automated spaceship and sent out into space to hide any evidence, with his father regularly checking up on it. But eventually a malfunction caused it to go off-course and crash on a Rimworld. On the Rimworld, Lloyd became a "roaming doctor". He never settled with one colony, spent most of his time camping out in the wilds or staying at temporary settlements, and offering medical care to other travelers and passing caravans. Although wherever he went, rumors spread of an organ harvesting maniac plaguing innocents…

  • Very charismatic and a lot of people are easily swayed by his beauty. He uses this to his advantage to get his way.

  • Bradley is his trusted aide & right-hand man. Lloyd will always consult with Bradley on serious matters, and in general they're always seen together. At the same time, he thinks Bradley can be such a bore and wants him to let loose more. He wouldn't be capable to live without Bradley, however.

  • Likes to steal Bradley's underwear for himself, otherwise he's going commando most of the time.

  • Sees Hops as family and is the only person he will behave, albeit somewhat, around. He will do anything in his power to keep him safe.

  • Enjoys subjecting others to his "experiments". Like his family, he's particularly fond of combining technology with biology, and likes to tinker with machines and such for that purpose. Although they cause more harm than good.

Bradley Manhattan

Age: 26 yrs oldPersonality: Strait-laced, all work no play, righteous, has a soft spot for animals and children, rationalOccupation: Former mercenary, 2nd in chargeLikes: Super hero comics, relaxing baths, poker, soft fluffy textures, canines, gunsDislikes: Lloyd and Van's antics, getting mistaken for being an old man, cougars, smell of smokeleaf, crafting

A former mercenary who only knew how to fight to survive since he was a child. Some of Bradley's earliest memories involve him being in a dangerous environment, constantly struggling to survive each day. He would do all sorts of work under shady employers to get by no matter what it was.An influential politician took notice of Bradley's poor situation, and permanently employed him as a tool to do all of the dirty work. He was conditioned to think he was doing the "right" thing to dispose of the "evil" of this world, leaving him with a jaded perception of right and wrong. However, as years went by, internal conflict within the politicians family grew beyond anyones control. It destroyed everyone involved, including his employer. Bradley was left to fend for his own once again. One day, a rich man approached him, offering a job as a janitor on his newly built gravship that would be headed to a nearby Glitterworld. While hesitant at first, Bradley couldn't resist the allure of a world were all "evil" had been eradicated and everyone lived in peace, free of conflict. Little did he know he would be forced to work in captivity on the ship for a few years, being made a fool for believing he could ever reach a Glitterworld, until a tragedy befell the ship and forced everyone to evacuate. Bradley hopped into a transport pod and set course for the nearest planet possible: a Rimworld. Once he crashed and woke up on the Rimworld, he saw how devoid it was of the corruption of humanity, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. After familiarizing himself with his new environment, he decided to become a travelling mercenary that would temporary offer his services to different factions he'd come across on the Rimworld. While on the road, he ran into two other travelers that needed help from bandits, and he came to their rescue. Afterwards, he decided to stick with them as their personal bodyguard, given they were rather ill-suited for combat. The older one of the pair happily welcomed him with open arms, and they quickly developed a rather special bond.

  • Frowning is his default expression. He's a calm and collected individual that's considered to be the most rational one. Without him, the colony would not be functioning properly at all.

  • Pledged his loyality to Lloyd and it's absolute. He loves him and trusts him deeply. However, since he highly values "duty", he won't listen to every whim of Lloyd's and try to keep him in place at times as the colony's vice-leader. He would have no qualms sacrificing himself for Lloyd, as a neccessity or if he was commanded to do so.

  • Has a very soft spot for Hops and Sho. He will be nicer to them than to others, and is the only time he can be seen smiling around someone. Likes to coddle both of them and will go as far as taking care of every need of theirs. He is particularly overprotective when it comes to Sho, however.

  • Will often bicker with Van and they grind each others gears a lot, however, their dynamic is one built on trust. Even then, he will not shy away from physical altercations with Van. The one time he loses his temper enough he can't control it.

Grasshopper "Hops"

Age: 20 yrs oldPersonality: Laidback, asocial, gets passionate when its about things that pique his interestOccupation: ResearcherLikes: Sushi, being awake at night, reading, foreign/Glitterworld technology, gravships, tinkering, catsDislikes: Socializing with others, mayonnaise on sushi, cold weather, being forced to do menial labor like hauling

A gifted young man who is fascinated by science.Hops was abandoned by his parents at a rather young age and spent most of his life in an Urbworld orphanage. Due to his troubled environment, he preferred to spend time reading and studying than socializing with others. He did get along very well with one of the caretakers, and even saw them as a parental figure. In his teens, he moved to a boarding school in hopes of earning qualifications to enter college to pursue a career in engineering, so that he could make enough money to sustain the orphanage caretaker himself. He would often get bullied for being the "weird quiet kid". Since he had no friends and was too scared to reach out for help, the bullying kept escalating to the point of him almost being killed. His perpetrators thought he actual had died due to him being fully unconscious. Not knowing what to do, and being too scared to get caught with the murder of their fellow classmate, they decided to dump his body on a garbage ship that would dump garbage outside of the stratosphere. Hops doesn't remember how and why, but eventually he found himself crashlanded on a Rimworld in the middle of a settlement. What seemed to be a welcoming settlement at first, was actually one with a hidden dark side to it. Hops would be kept as a captive slave alongside a few others, forced to convert to their ideology and be subjected to do menial labor and to every whim of the colonists. Anytime they dared to disobey, they would get "punished" in the name of their God. Due to Hops passive nature and being too weak to resist, the leader had grown quite fond of him and granted him special privileges, while still restricting his freedom.Eventually, he managed to escape the settlement and struggled to survive in the wild nature, until a certain roaming doctor ran into him and nurtured him back to proper health. Hops, forgetting what genuine kindness had felt like after so long, decided to stick by that man's side to repay him.

  • His name Grasshopper was a nickname given by the orphanage caretaker, since he didn't have a name or couldn't remember if his parents even gave him one, but it stuck enough to become his actual name. Hops hoped to take on the last name of his caretaker someday, too. However, he thinks he failed his caretaker and doesn't deserve to do so.

  • Trusts Bradley a lot and looks up to him. Has a bit of an "older brother" complex towards him and tends to call him by "big bro". Hops is rather immature and clingy when it comes to Bradley.

  • While he is grateful to Lloyd for saving his life, and took a special kind of liking to him, Hops does think he is gross and doesn't like his affections. There's also many times he gets rather fed up with Lloyd and has no qualms putting him in his place. Yet, he would never leave Lloyd's side as he has grown severely attached to him.

  • He knows it might be unrealistic, but he hopes to reunite with his caretaker one day and is extensively researching gravship technology for this reason.

  • Doesn't care much about clothing, and will wear clothing until it gets tattered beyond repair.

  • When he isn't researching, he tries to help out the colony in his own ways. He usually takes care of ranching with Van or spends time crafting basic neccessities and medicine.

Van Gimlet

Age: 23 yrs oldPersonality: Fun-loving, extroverted, a little bit pathetic, definition of a bro's bro, somewhat of a sadistOccupation: Animal farmerLikes: Being outside, ranching, working out, snow, alcohol (beer in specific), mischiefDislikes: Wearing clothing, being mistaken for "bigfoot", sleeping in a single person's bed (too cramped), humidity, being seen as "weak", having a beard

A young Yttakin man that had a rather normal upbringing in one of the many Yttakin tribes on the Rimworld. His father was the tribe leader, and many saw him in a favorable light. Outside of the getting what he always wanted, there was nothing remarkable about his life. He was even set to marry his childhood friend to have a family, and eventually take over his father's role as tribe leader. Yet, he couldn't help but feel like there was much more to life than this. Sometimes he thought to simply run away, but couldn't bring himself to sacrifice his comfort. However, one day he got drafted to raid a nearby temporary settlement and bring back its spoils.Expecting this to be business as usual, he thought nothing of it and went on ahead. The raid attempt got twarted before he could even come close to the settlement, as a hunter had already incapacitated him and stopped him. Van, having never felt defeat in his life before, was left bewildered and unable to fight back. The hunter captured him and brought him back to the settlement to see what to do with him. It started a long hefty debate, from freeing him to killing him, being kept captive until a merchant willing to buy slaves passed by.While awaiting his fate, one of the hunter's companions took interest in him and said he'll "take" him in if Van's willing to give up everything. Van, remembering how monotonous his life was, happily obliged. He ditched his tribe without ever looking back, and joined the man and his traveling companions.

  • Although it's custom for Yttakin to have beards, Van keeps his face trimmed because he thinks outgrowing his fur makes him look older than he is.

  • Forms a horrible mischief duo with Lloyd. A reason why Lloyd took such a liking to him is because he could tell that Van wanted to see more of what life had to offer. They're up to no good on a daily basis.

  • He's usually in charge of ranching and herding due to growing up as an animal farmer. He will also tame and teach animals. His dream is to tame a Thrumbo one day.

  • Bradley pisses him off terribly and they're always arguing, which sometimes escalates to physical fighting. Half of this disdain is rooted in the fact that Bradley had somehow managed to outsmart him the first time they met, which was the first time Van was knocked down a peg.

  • His necklace is the equivalent of an engagement ring for his tribe. The males get a little wooden carving of a half-moon shape facing to the right with two leaves attached, while the females get a half-moon shape facing to the left with one leaf. While no pair of necklaces are the same, it is incredibly taboo for there to be more than one for each. Van doesn't care about tradition, and made a duplicate of his for Sho as a token of their friendship as fellow beastmen, and "shared interests", although he won't elaborate on the last part.

  • Although their size difference is large, Van is somewhat intimidated by Hops and tries his best to keep being on his good side.

Shochu "Sho"

Age: Unknown, estimated to be around his 30s.Personality: Timid, anxious, volatile, a bit slow mentallyOccupation: ButcherLikes: Quiet places, the dead, mushrooms, sound of rain droplets, cold weather, Bradley, "playing" with his "prey"Dislikes: Small places and cages, gunpowder smell, bones, mosquitoes

An insecure, cowardly half-Yttakin— at least when his switch isn't flipped.Born in a tribe of Yttakin, he was immediately seen as an outcast due to his half-baseliner nature. He was never treated well, and subjected to the most lowliest of tasks possible, one of them being butchering animals and dealing with corpses. Sho didn't mind, given the dead wouldn't criticize him.The constant contact with death led to Sho preferring the dead over the living. He would feel no grief when one of the tribe members would die, further making him into an outcast. A series of continued mental breaks lead to him developing a twisted affinity for killing, to the point of toying with his so-called prey until they die. He only did this to humanoids, as he respected nature and animals as part of his beliefs.Despite being treated like scum, Sho continued his life at the tribe. It wasn't until a raid displaced the entire tribe and he ended up being captured for his strange nature. He was sold around as an "exotic animal" among some of the wealthiest, and treated like a lowly pet. It conditioned Sho to submit to a "master".In a bout of mental instability, Sho ended up killing his own master without actually meaning to. A feeling he never felt before overwhelmed him, and ended up fleeing his new home before anyone could find out. Spending time out in the wilds was a first for him, and he wandered around in a psychotic state for a few days. He ended up roaming around the land of a fairly new settlement, where one of the local hunters took note of his sudden presence. However, instead of being disposed of, he reached out to Sho and tried to help him. After several days of this continued routine, it made Sho snap out of his daze and recognize this man as his "new" master. The man felt conflicted, given he was mostly trying to help him out of concern, but he accepted the new role bestowed onto him and took Sho back to the settlement. There, Sho learned how to live for himself, or is trying to.

  • His volatile nature makes him more prone to having mental breaks than others. Normally, he's quite timid and keeps to himself, and won't hurt others unless commanded to or provoked. Only ones he can't hurt is those he has an attachment to.

  • Pain excites him, whether it's experiencing it or causing it to others. He will not seek it out or cause it on purpose, however.

  • Really good at shooting/hunting, but can't do medic/doctoring. Whenever he has nothing to do or hasn't received any orders, he can be seen making arts and crafts. It's one of the few things he actually does on his own besides taking care of basic needs.

  • Calls Bradley by "master" and will follow him around like an excited dog. He will always take Bradley's side no matter the situation, and will go as far as sleeping infront of his bedroom door to guard him. He also loves to get headpats from him, which is a shared trait with Hops.

  • He received a necklace from Van as a token of their friendship as fellow beastmen. While he is unaware of Van's intention behind it, or the tradition it carries, he does appreciate it deeply and is always seen wearing it.

  • He's not fond of wearing clothing due to his Yttakin nature, so he wears a long skirt that's basically a torn piece of fabric wrapped around his waist with rope. Under his skirt, he has a haramaki to protect his stomach. A custom from his own tribe.

  • Due to being a night owl, he's often seen hanging out with Hops, who also tends to be awake at night. They're both not that talkative but do enjoy each others company and like to parallel play. They will also nap together, or sleep in the same bed. In general, they have a cute, wholesome dynamic.

  • Lloyd makes him antsy and he doesn't like being left alone with him, as Sho was once tricked to get experimented on and had to learn the hard way of how unpleasant that could be.
